Gerald D. (Jay) Cimino – Chairman of the Board and Trustee – CEO and Majority partner in the Phil Long Dealerships, Founder and Board Member Emeritus of the Trinidad Community Foundation and community philanthropist, Cimino is a native of Trinidad, Colorado. Cimino attended Trinidad State Junior College and received a BA in Business Administration from the University of Denver where he was on the Dean’s List. Cimino is best known for parlaying Phil Long Ford into the Phil Long Family of Dealerships, encompassing 14 dealerships spanning the Front Range from Raton to Denver. Cimino is also known for his philanthropy, which includes a broad spectrum of charitable organizations, needs, people and causes. He is the founder of the Trinidad Community Foundation, La Puerta de Colorado project and Mt. Carmel of Colorado’s two non-profits: Mt. Carmel Health, Wellness and Community Center in Trinidad and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in Colorado Springs.
Gina M. Cimino – Vice Chairman of the Board & Trustee – Gina M. Cimino is President and Broker of Kip Hampden Properties. She also serves as President of Mt. Carmel of Colorado as well as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for the non-profit, which has two distinct centers. Being part of a philanthropic family has always inspired Gina to give back to her community. She has participated and volunteered in various activities including those by the National Charity League, Newborn Hope, Boys and Girls Club, Care and Share, and the National Cancer Society. She currently serves on El Pomar’s Southeast Regional Council. Gina is a Colorado native who attended Cheyenne Mountain High School and is a graduate of the University of Colorado.
David Palenchar – Three Year Member – was raised in Southern California and first came to Colorado to attend the United States Air Force Academy. After a career in the Air Force, he returned to Colorado and joined the El Pomar program staff. In 2007, Dave was recognized as the Colorado Springs Citizen of the Year by the (then) Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. He retired as El Pomar’s Chief Operating Officer in 2013. He currently serves as an El Pomar Foundation Trustee, President & CEO of the Broadmoor World Arena and the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts, Chairman of the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and President of the Air Force Academy Foundation and is a board member of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund and the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Hall of Fame.
Louis (Lou) Simpleman COL USMC (R) – Three Year Member– Lou was born and raised in Trinidad. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy with an MS in Electrical Engineering, Lou spent 27 years in the Marine Corps where he served in a number of high-level assignments, including a tour in Vietnam. Since his retirement, Lou has been a consultant for the Institute of Defense Analyses (IDA) and has been an IDA consultant to the Missile Defense Agency at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs. He acts as the City of Trinidad Military Liaison Officer and serves as board member for the Trinidad Community Foundation, the Procurement Technical Advisory Center and is the organizational sponsor for a local Boy Scouts of America troop.
Greg Garcia – Two Year Member – Greg practices as Wealth Management Advisor and Vice President with Merrill Lynch, a Bank of America Corporation. For more than 20 years, in Colorado Springs, Greg has helped businesses and individuals set and attain financial goals. Concurrently, he has spent community time in leadership positions with nonprofit organizations helping them achieve their financial and operational goals and objectives. Greg says, “My goal in life is to leave my corner of the world in better shape than I found it while helping my friends and family along the way.”
Board of Managers
Cy Michaels – Chairperson of the Board – Cy has operated numerous businesses in the Trinidad area for over 20 years. Currently, she operates the Trinidad La Quinta Inn & Suites and Tone Management, LLC. Cy is a graduate of Mike Monroney Aeronautical Academy and Cornell University. She is the President of the City of Trinidad Tourism Board, Main Street Colorado Local Chapter and has been on several non proÿ t boards in the area. Cy is on the nationally elected Brand Council for the La Quinta Brand. She has received numerous local and national awards for leadership, hospitality and customer service.
Ed Griego – Vice Chair – Ed was born and raised in Trinidad. He is a graduate of Trinidad State Junior College (A.A.S./Law Enforcement – 1972). Ed is president and co-owner of Griego Insurance Agency, Inc. – a family-owned business established in 1975. Ed has served on several boards and commissions, including Trinidad City Council, Housing Authority of the City of Trinidad, Colorado Civil Rights Commission, Trinidad Urban Renewal Authority, and board member of International Bank – Trinidad.
Angela Ann Cesario – Secretary – Member – Angela Ann is a Trinidad native. She served as the Board Secretary for the Trinidad Community Foundation and the PILLAR Institute and is a member of the Friends of Historical Trinidad, and the Trinidad Historical Society. She is a member of the Trinidad Board of Managers and assists Mt. Carmel of Colorado as a Special Projects Coordinator. Angela Ann has served as secretary for all three boards. Angela Ann retired from corporate-level administrative management and is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and did post-graduate work in Journalism at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.
Bill Miller – Controller – Non-Member – A graduate of Colorado Mesa University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Billy worked primarily in the healthcare industry and has over 15 years’ experience working for non-profit organizations. His desire is to continue to contribute to Mt. Carmel and the people that it serves. Bill is active in his church and enjoys hiking and fishing with his wife Marsha. Bill spent most of his first 29 years in Western Colorado before moving to Southern California for 14 years. Since 2014, he has lived in beautiful Colorado Springs. He and Marsha have two adult sons.
Linda T. Barron – Member – Linda was born in North Vietnam and imigrated to the South during the Vietnam War. At age 14, Linda worked for the US Army while continuing her education through high school and college. Linda immigrated to the United States in 1970 and relocated to Trinidad in 1985. She served with the American Red Cross in California, providing assistance to Indochina refugees in 1975 and served as chairperson for the American Red Cross Spanish Peaks Branch in Trinidad from 1999-2002. During this tenure, Linda raised over $65M in donations after the 9/11 attack. Presently, Linda owns and operates several businesses in Trinidad together with the Whiskey Creek Ranch. Linda is President of the Board and past president of the Trinidad/Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce. Since 1998, Linda has served as chairman and currently as vice-chairman of the Las Animas County Veterans Committee. She is a member of Kiwanis Club of Trinidad where she served as vice-president. Linda has received many awards, including the Chenoweth Award, Colorado Cares awarded by Governor Bill Owens and is a recipient of DAR Americanism Medal.
Tony Hass – Member – Tony has made Trinidad his home since 1984. He is the owner of the Walking Y Ranch. Tony has an AA degree in Business/Ranch management and is a member of several local non profit boards in Southern Colorado. Presently he serves on the Colorado Public Utilities Commission Board, the Trinidad Community Foundation and the Colorado Farm Bureau Board. He is a prior member of the Las Animas/Huerfano County Health Board, Las Animas County Fair Board, Las Animas County Horse Council, Hoehne Ag Advisory Council, Las Animas Farm Bureau and was the Colorado Cattlemen Southeastern District Representative.
Linda Perry – Member – Linda, a Colorado native, is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder. She and husband Tom came to the Trinidad area about 25 years ago to manage the Bar NI Ranch in Stonewall, focusing their time on environmental land and wildlife stewardship, livestock management, and guest services. After leaving ranch and lodge management, Linda has focused her time on working at Trinidad State Junior College serving as Executive Assistant to the President. She continues serving local non-profits including the Bar NI Ranch Community Fund, the Purgatoire Valley Foundation, and the Culebra Range Community Coalition through the Trinidad Water Festival and the Environmental Scholarship Program.
